En 1791 en France les Fermes Générales furent supprimées et on demanda à l'ancien fermier (Jean-Francois Kalandrin) de reprendre son activité.
Mais la profession etait désorganisée et les orfèvres ne portaient leurs ouvrages en argent au controle et Kalandrin préféra disparaitre.
