silver sugar sifter - France
this is a French silver sugar sifter with floral shape holes on the bowl and horn handle made at the
beginning 19th century .
It has the maker's mark A.A.C with an imperial crown and a cup between the A and C, corresponding to
Clérin Aiméé-Catherine (widow Lecour) and the stamp of the silversmiths organisation (a face of a
Greek lady with the letter P) started in 1794 and found until the years 1838. This Greek lady face was
stamped do to the desorganisation of the control of the silver in France after 1789 revolution.
These informations about the maker were kindly supplied by Hugo Keymeulen:
The sifter is 14 in. long (cm. 36) and was bought from a French dealer in Paris.
