silver letter opener - Russia

Russian antique silver letter opener: elephant's head handle this silver letter opener was made in St. Petersburg (Russia) around 1900. It bears hallmarks of St.Petersburg (in use after 1896), purity degree 84 (zolotnicki, 875/1000 silver) and silversmith's mark A.C.
The silver handle has the shape of an elephant's head while the blade is made of celluloid similar to ivory.
The letter opener is 10 1/4 in. long (cm. 26,5) while the silver handle is 4 in. long (cm. 10). The letter opener was bought from an US dealer through the Internet.

This item is not for sale, but most of my pieces were bought through the Internet. On the right bar of this page there are some links to silver and antique dealers websites
